UTICA – Mohawk Valley Health System (MVHS) opened a new instructional lab in the Medical Imaging Department at the Faxton Campus in February 2015. The lab is used by students of the Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) Radiological Technology Program and is equipped with a classroom area, a faculty work area, and radiology equipment on which students can practice before beginning the clinical portion of their studies.
Construction of the new lab began in July 2014 and was completed in February 2015. The equipment was moved to the Faxton Campus from the St. Luke’s Campus and the former St. Elizabeth Medical Center School of Radiography after their Radiologic Technology programs moved to MVCC in response to changing American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) mandates, which now require entry-level practitioners to hold an associate degree. After the programs moved, a newer, larger instruction area was needed in the outpatient Medical Imaging Department at the Faxton Campus.
Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare and St. Elizabeth Medical Center are affiliates under the Mohawk Valley Health System.
