UTICA, N.Y. – The Laryngectomy Support Group will hold its monthly meeting on Thursday, January 14 at 12 p.m. The meeting will take place in the Sister Regina Conference Room on the first floor of the St. Elizabeth Medical Center (SEMC) hospital building. The support group is sponsored by SEMC.
A laryngectomy is the procedure to remove a person’s larynx and separates the airway from the mouth, nose and esophagus. The laryngectomee breathes through an opening in the neck, called a stoma.
The public is welcome to attend. Those with questions may call the Speech Therapy Department at 315-801-4475. Laryngectomy Support Group meetings are held the second Thursday of each month at 12 p.m.
