UTICA, N.Y. -- The St. Elizabeth Medical Center (SEMC) Guild has made a $15,000 donation to SEMC for 2015. The gift goes toward the purchase of BloodTrack Emerge equipment at the SEMC Laboratory and was accepted on behalf of the SEMC Foundation.

The BloodTrack Emerge system will allow the Laboratory to store blood products in the Operating Room or Emergency Department for immediate access. The system provides complete security and traceability of the blood inventory, while providing caregivers with immediate access at the point-of-care. This increases patient safety and decreases time to access blood in clinical areas. SEMC staff will be able to access the emergency blood supply much faster, which could mean the difference between life and death.

The SEMC Foundation supports the priorities of the SEMC Laboratory and has embarked upon a gift initiative to raise a total of $48,000 in support of the purchase of the BloodTrack Emerge system. The $15,000 gift from SEMC Guild helps the Foundation reach its goal.
