Cub Scout Pack 21 from West Winfield donates toys to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center Emergency Department staff to give to children.

UTICA, N.Y. – This holiday season, the Cub Scouts from Pack 21 in West Winfield presented toys to the St. Elizabeth Medical Center (SEMC) Emergency Department (ED) staff to give children who come into the ED.

Eight-year-old Cub Scout James Simon was a patient in the SEMC ED last Christmas and received a toy. "The toy made such a difference for James," said Nancy Simon, his mother. "He wanted to give back and worked with the Pack to collect new toys for children who might have to be in the Emergency Department this holiday season."

The Pack consists of children from kindergarten to fifth grade. It is the Cub Scouts’ hope that these toys can help children this year in the ED.

“We want to thank Cub Scout James and the rest of the Pack for the abundance of gifts,” said Dianna Scranton, RN, nurse manager of the Mohawk Valley Health System Emergency Departments. “The kids will really appreciate them this holiday season.”
