Our Pediatric Orientation Program was a big hit with Notre Dame Students.
First graders from Notre Dame Elementary took part in our Pediatric Orientation Program on Wednesday October 24th. Students had fun pretending to be patients, parents, nurses and doctors as instructors guided them through scenarios they may encounter in a hospital. During the interactive class, they used a hospital bed, wheel chair, medical instruments, viewed X-rays and even gauze used for making casts.
The class, which the Medical Center started over 30 years ago, helps local students experience what it may be like as a patient in a hospital. Through this experience, children gain an understanding of medical equipment and why it is used. They also get an early look into the healthcare field while easing their fears of hospitals and healthcare staff.
