St. Elizabeth Medical Center is experiencing an increase in patients in both the Emergency Department and the inpatient setting with flu and flu-like symptoms. Effective immediately, the organization is restricting visitors to adults 18 years of age and older. The restrictions will be in place until further notice.
In addition, any visitor or employee who is feeling ill with any type of upper respiratory problem should not enter the facility to visit or to work, in order to keep our patients and coworkers safe.
"We at the Medical Center have an obligation to protect our patients to the best of our ability. We currently have instituted visitor restrictions in the hope of controlling the spread of the virus during the patient’s hospitalization. We are also very focused on the well-being of our employees and are enforcing protective measures to keep them virus free, if possible," said Heidi Coluzza, RN, BS, BC, Director of Infection Prevention.
Please note that it is not too late to get a seasonal flu vaccine.
County Health Departments, primary care offices and various pharmacies throughout the region are offering vaccinations.
St. Elizabeth appreciates the public’s cooperation during this time.
