St. Elizabeth Medical Center (SEMC) and Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH) have been recognized as two of the nation’s top hospitals by National Research Corporation. Both earned the 2012/13 Consumer Choice Award for the ninth consecutive year.
Winners were announced in Modern Healthcare magazine in October. The award identifies hospitals in the top 300 markets throughout the United States. Each year, National Research honors hospitals that consumers rate as having the best quality and image, based on a study of more than 250,000 households.
In a joint statement, Richard H. Ketcham, FACHE, president/CEO of SEMC, and Scott H. Perra, FACHE, president/ CEO of FSLH, thanked patients and families for their support and confidence in the healthcare organizations.
"Our hospitals are committed to serving our communities and their healthcare needs,” Ketcham and Perra said. “It’s a wonderful recognition of the exceptional care provided by our employees, medical staff and volunteers.”
The two healthcare organizations collaborate in several areas of patient care including the Mohawk Valley Heart Institute and the Central New York Diabetes Education Program.
Of the 3,200 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities rank highest in their Core Based Statistical Areas (CBSAs), as defined by the U.S. Census Bureau. The National Research survey represents 450,000 consumers in the contiguous 48 states and District of Columbia. Currently recognized by Modern Healthcare as one of the largest patient satisfaction firms in the U.S., National Research is dedicated to representing the true voice of patients and other healthcare stakeholders.
